Rev. William S. Wiecher - Co-Pastor

Pastor William S. Wiecher was ordained in 1989 after receiving a call to serve as Pastor of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Paltz, NY, where he has served for the for nineteen years. Pastor Wiecher also serves as the Wing Chaplain, 439th Airlift Wing, Westover Air Reserve Base, Chicopee, Massachusetts. In that capacity he advises the commander 439th Airlift Wing on religious, ethical and quality of life issues. He evaluates and facilitates the chapel programs on the base, the Chicopee community and geographically separated units. He supports a comprehensive ecumenical and inter-faith Chapel program for a 3,500 member Wing through visitation, religious observances, and pastoral care. In 2002 he was mobilized in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and again mobilized in 2003 -2004 for Operation Iraqi Freedom and in support for Hurricane Katrina, he serves as the Air Force Reserve Command deputy leader for the Command’s Critical Incident Response Team.

Pastor Wiecher was raised in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. He is a product of a Lutheran parochial education, from elementary school through his graduation for Lutheran High School North in 1981. Pastor Wiecher attended Capital University, Columbus, Ohio and graduated with a BA in History/ Secondary Education and Religion and Christian Staff work, in 1985.

He received his Seminary training at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, receiving a Masters of Divinity in 1989. His internship during Seminary was at Lord of Light Lutheran Church, Ann Arbor, Michigan, --the Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of Michigan; additionally he served St. Philip’s Lutheran Church, Ypsilanti, MI, and also developed a singles ministry project for the Southeaster Michigan Synod. In 2001, Pastor Wiecher received a Master of Philosophy degree from Fordham University, Bronx, NY. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Historical Theology.

Pastor Wiecher was called to College Lutheran Church in August 2008.
