Music at College Lutheran

"Music has always been very important in the Lutheran tradition - Martin Luther himself held music in very high regard. At CLC, we strive to create quality music that enahances our worship services and lifts the spirit of those making the music as well." - Aaron Garber, Director of Music
Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir sings weekly at the 11:00 service. We rehearse on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Choir Room. For our services, we sing in the balcony and are certainly one of the few churches blessed to have an elevator that goes from the choir room right to the balcony! Our music is varied, yet tries to maintain high standards. We sing music of some Great Composers of the past like Bach, Handel, Palestrina, Faure, and others, but we also sing newer works of high quality by a variety of composers. In fact, our Sanctuary Choir has premiered the works of several composers over the past few years.
The Sanctuary Choir is open to Adults and Senior High Youth. We hope to see (and hear) you soon!
Children's Choirs
Since music is so central to Lutheran tradition, we place high emphasis on early music education. Our Children's Choirs are for ages 3 through grade 8. The Cherub Choir is for the younger ones (age 3 thru grade 2), and the Seraph Choir (graes 3 thru 8) for the older kids. Children experience singing, note learning, instruments, music games, and even some music theory for the older group.
Our rehearsal times tend to vary from year to year depending on what else is happening in the church. Just check the online calendar button on the lefthand side of this page for the schedule. Generally, the Cherubs sing the first Sunday of the month and the Seraphs the second Sunday of the month.
Handbell Choir
The Handbell Choir is open to adults and youth grade 9 and higher. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:45 p.m. in the choir room. The handbells play during church services several times throughout the year.
Salem Choral Society
